A great source of anthocyanin, cherries can help to reduce inflammation and joint pain. Cherries are also a good source of melatonin, which is responsible for the regulation of the body's internal clock and sleep-wake cycle. Drinking tart cherry juice has been shown to help improve sleep duration and quality. We love cherries from Serene Green Farm Stand in Sag Harbor.

(serves 2)

1 cup of frozen dark cherries
1 to 1 1/2 cups of water or unsweetened chocolate almond milk
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup of frozen blueberries
3 large handfuls of baby spinach
1 tablespoon ground flax seed
2 tablespoons unsweetened good quality cocoa powder or cacao powder

If using a regular blender, blend all the ingredients except the frozen fruit first; slowly add in the frozen fruit so as not to damage your blender. Drink and enjoy!
