Workshops and Seminars

Our wellness workshops are designed to educate and increase knowledge and awareness on a variety of health and wellness related topics. We have dynamic expert speakers who can provide seminars and workshops for businesses, organizations and the community. All seminars are customized to the needs of each organization.

EXERCISE MADE EASY

Whether it’s a busy schedule, low energy, or another type of obstacle, many of us have a hard time sticking with exercise routines. The good news is that exercise need not be a formal event! There are so many fun ways to get our heart rate up and strengthen our muscles without ever stepping foot in a gym. During this lively session, we’ll share strategies for "sneaking" in exercise, and we’ll also do some activities together—including seated exercises you can do at your desk or even on a plane or train!

FIND YOUR BALANCE

The hectic pace of today’s wireless world, combined with work and personal obligations, can leave us feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. The good news is there are simple steps we can take to feel a greater sense of balance and fulfillment every day. During this fun, interactive workshop, you’ll have an opportunity to consider what’s most important to you and identify specific steps you can take to optimally allocate your time. You will also learn important strategies including asserting boundaries, delegating, powerfully prioritizing, and making space in the day for self-care.

HEALTHY CONNECTIONS

Studies have shown that individuals who feel a sense of connection to others and to their communities are likely to live longer and enjoy happier, healthier lives than those who do not. Though we’re more "connected" than ever these days through technology, the amount of real, quality interactions is dwindling. We’re living farther apart from family and friends and spending more time in front of screens—even when we’re surrounded by others, we’re often in our own world. This session will review some simple steps for enhancing a sense of connection, even for those of us with the busiest of schedules. We’ll learn how some very small, sustainable changes can make a huge impact on both physical and emotional well-being.

MINDFUL EATING

Does eating in your car, wolfing down lunch at your desk, or snacking while watching TV sound familiar? Do you often finish eating something and not really remember the experience? If so, you’re not alone—between the hectic schedules we keep and the different roles that food plays in our lives, eating mindfully has become challenging for most of us. During this interactive session, we’ll come to understand the concept of mindful eating and how to apply it. We’ll also explore the important role mindfulness plays both in managing weight and in enhancing physical and emotional wellbeing.

MINDSET FOR SUCCESS

Mindset has a huge influence on many areas of life, including physical and emotional health, relationships, and personal and professional success. Regardless of whether we’ve identified as an optimist or pessimist in the past, we all have the ability to harness a mindset that allows us to deal with challenging events more effectively, turn "failures" into growth opportunities, and experience a greater sense of contentment. Participants will leave this workshop armed with strategies for making simple shifts in thinking that can lead to great change.

RELAXATION RX

Most of us feel too busy to even think about taking time out to relax. But the reality is that regular relaxation is crucial—if we don’t stop regularly to "refuel," we risk emotional and physical burnout. Even a small investment of 5-10 minutes a day can have a huge return. This interactive workshop will include demonstrations of relaxation techniques that provide immediate as well as long-term benefits. We’ll also learn how to detect burnout "triggers" and discover ways to regain a sense of balance and motivation. We’ll leave feeling recharged and better able to tackle daily demands.

SECRETS TO A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP

Sleep is often left out of the conversation when it comes to good health. However, it’s just as important to overall wellbeing as nutritious food and regular exercise. This workshop will review the tremendous benefits of a good night’s sleep on physical and emotional health, as well as techniques to help both children and adults fall asleep and sleep more soundly. We’ll also discuss some strategies specific to managing insomnia and other sleep disorders. While the presentation itself is very stimulating, those who attend can count on feeling well-rested!

SELF CARE FOR CAREGIVERS

On airplanes, we’re told to put on our own oxygen masks before attempting to help others, and the same concept applies in life. Whether you’re caring for an elderly loved one, a child, or someone else, self-care is essential. Caregivers often struggle to make time for themselves due to competing demands and/or feelings of guilt. In this session, we’ll demonstrate some manageable yet highly effective ways to make your own care a priority in order to feel your best—and be the best caregiver to others.

STAND UP FOR YOUR HEALTH

There’s a new health hazard to watch out for that’s being referred to as "sitting disease." Sitting is now being equated with smoking in terms of its detrimental effects. Being sedentary for long periods of time—even if we exercise—can really take a toll. However, between busy schedules, long commutes, and the many comforts of modern technology, both children and adults are spending the majority of their waking hours sitting. During this dynamic session, we’ll review some simple yet life-changing steps to protect health and increase levels of energy and productivity. Stand up and join us!

THE POWER TABLE

It has been said that breakfast, lunch, and dinner are some of the best "medications" we can take. Each time we sit down to eat, there’s an opportunity to give our body the most nutritious, health-promoting food we can for optimal health. Join us for an interactive session, where we’ll learn how to look and feel our best with the power of plant-based, whole foods. We’ll discuss some lesser known "all-star" super foods as well as strategies for effortlessly sneaking in more nutrients and getting the most out of each meal. We’ll also share simple, delicious, and nutrient-packed recipes to power up any table!
